Introduction - Ilkley Pool Group
WHO ARE WE?
The llkley Pool Group is a group of local individuals who know llkley pool and Lido well and are keen to improve it as a community swimming and sports facility.
We believe that the Grade 2 listed llkley Lido is a beautiful and important piece of llkley's heritage, but underused for most of the year, and in need of restoration to its former glory.
We believe that the indoor pool is an important local facility but housed in an unattractive and old building that detracts from the Lido site.
We believe the complex lacks certain basic facilities that would enhance its attractiveness, eg a children's pool and a café in the indoor pool area.
We are separate from but are pleased to have the support of the Friends of llkley Lido.
WHAT ARE WE TRYING TO DO?
The llkley Pool Group's vision is to restore the Lido, rebuild the indoor pool and add new facilities.
We want to create a masterplan for the whole site, including the areas currently containing the car park, tennis courts etc, to help inform future improvements and form a basis for applications for funding.
The objective would be to create a year-round community facility of better quality, higher environmental sustainability and more robust financial sustainability than the current complex.
