News: Ilkley Talking Newspaper
Please put your information here...
Ilkley Talking Newspaper provides weekly CD recordings from The Ilkley Gazette, and monthly ones from The Dalesman magazine.
These are sent, free of charge, to people who experience difficulties in reading or handling a printed publication owing either to sight impairment or physical disability.
New listeners are always welcome!
Please contact us if you, or someone you know, would like to receive Ilkley Talking Newspaper.
The service is run by approximately 70 volunteers. Teams carry out different roles, and all operate on a rota basis.
We are currently recruiting recording technicians and copiers.
Technicians need to be comfortable using a computer, but full training is given. This role requires a commitment of approximately two and a half hours every five weeks. Recordings take place on Friday evenings.
Copiers also operate on a five weekly basis, on Saturday mornings. This is a simple task which usually takes about an hour.
Our rotas are always very flexible to allow for holidays and other commitments!
We would be very pleased to hear from anyone interested in finding out more about becoming an ITN technician or copier.
Volunteer for other roles such as editing, reading and administration are also needed from time to time, so please get in touch if you would like to be involved!
