Music: Ilkley Strummers Club

The Ilkley Strummers Club

Introducing The Ilkley Strummers Club, established April 2025 and bringing together budding musicians from across our local community. We are a friendly and supportive community music ensemble aimed at Beginner, Intermediate and Improver acoustic players. If you're searching for acoustic groups in Ilkley, or a local music club to jam with fellow likeminded acoustic players, come along to a free first session.

Who can join?

Rhythm and lead acoustic players. Singing is very much welcome but not compulsory! A knowledge of basic open chords is desirable and would suit someone who has been playing for at least a few months at a minimum.

Where and when do you meet?

We meet Wednesday evenings at All Saints Church, 4 Church Street, Ilkley, LS29 9DS. Sessions usually start at 7:30 PM.

What should I bring?

Bring your instrument and an open mind! We provide chord and lyric sheets and there is a WhatsApp group where Ben will often provide the group with further videos to help with practice.

How much does it cost?

The first session is free. After that, it’s £130 for a 10-week term.

Does the group perform live?

Yes! As we're so new we've only done one concert so far but we are now looking to perform as regularly as possible. Participation is optional, but many members find it rewarding and fun.

What kind of music do the group play?

We focus on popular songs arranged specifically for our ensemble, making them accessible to every player while maintaining their musical essence. Our repertoire spans decades of beloved music from all eras.

How do I sign up?

Just contact Ben to register your interest. We’ll get back to you with availability and next steps.

Why should I join a community music group?

Playing in a group will build your confidence, your motivation, and your musicianship. You'll make friends and grow as a player — all in a fun, no-pressure environment.
